Jackie Araujo

Jackie is an SEGL Spring DC ‘21 alumna and a graduate of Bryn Mawr College, where she attended as a Posse Scholar and earned a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Latin American, Iberian, and Latina/o Studies. At Bryn Mawr College, Jackie was awarded the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, a prestigious program aimed to create a pathway for students interested in academia. In her research, she examined the role of transnational musical practices in keeping families connected in Mexico and the United States. Through ethnographic field work in Mexico, she wrote a thesis that received departmental honors in Sociology, and presented her work at three conferences. In addition, Jackie studied in Rabat, Morocco, where she interned with AICEED, an NGO in Tangier, Morocco. Jackie also served as the Chief of Staff and mentor for the Quantitative Center at Bryn Mawr College, while also working as a paralegal at a law firm located in Houston.
