Nawal Aziz

Nawal Aziz is an Admissions Fellow and Residential Advisor at SEGL in DC. She has just completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Bennington College, where she majored in Political Science. Having grown up in Karachi, Pakistan, her academic focus at college gravitated towards exploring the intersections of populism, authoritarianism, and democratic development in the South Asian region, with an emphasis on understanding these dynamics through a people-centered approach. Her study culminated in a thesis where she investigated comparative preferential policies and their impact on inter-ethnic disparities in the region, proposing a framework to address the underlying factors of these disparities. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, long walks and spending time with her dog.
