Apply

The application for our Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 programs is now open - complete an Inquiry and Application Request Form to get started today!

SEGL uses an online application that allows students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to access all application forms, request teacher recommendations, track their application status, and, ultimately, view admissions decisions.

Students interested in applying to more than one program can indicate which program(s) you would like to be considered for on the application (e.g. Fall or Spring semester in Washington, DC and/or Johannesburg, South Africa and/or the Summer Institute) and can apply to as many programs as they interested. There is space on the application where you can state a preference for a particular program if you would like to provide more information.

SEGL Application Components

  • General Information
  • Writing Samples (four short essays)
  • Two teacher recommendations (from core academic teachers)
  • Academic transcript
  • Parent/Guardian statement
  • Graded Paper (from a high school History or English course)

Applicants are also asked to sign our Ethics Pledge, which demonstrates their willingness to abide by the SEGL social contract should they enroll as a student.
