Santiago Vargas Garcia
Santi is an Admissions Associate and the Residential Dean at SEGL in DC. He graduated from Amherst College and began his career in education as a middle school math teacher in Brooklyn, New York. Santi grew up in Miami, and from an early age has been passionate about education and increasing access to educational opportunities. Before coming to SEGL, he worked with Breakthrough Miami as a summer teaching fellow, served as a programming director with Kids in the Game, a summer creative and sports camp, and worked as an art framer in Illinois. While at Amherst, he studied abroad in Germany while pursuing his BA in the Practice of Art. He worked mostly with black & white film photography as he explored his positionality as a latino male experiencing higher education as the first college graduate of his family.
